Serving Roles

Icebreaker, prayer, discussion, and secretary serving roles are rotated weekly and determined the Shabbat prior. The roles for each week are sent in the discord #roles channel.

For new members, we ask that you attend our meetings consistently for at least two or more months regularly before taking up a serving role. Please observe how our group works and learn from those in the serving roles before asking to take up a role.

For all those taking up a leadership role, please:

  • Take this role seriously and pray for God’s blessing and guidance
  • Do your best and be prepared, as you are serving God
  • Please let everyone know ASAP (notify via discord) if you cannot attend on Shabbat
  • For small group activities, please have 3-4 people per group and please do not create a situation where a guy and a girl will be alone in the same closed physical space.

Whatever you do, work at it from the soul, as for the Lord and not for people. For you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as a reward. It is to the Lord Messiah you are giving service.

Colossians 3:23-24 TLV

He Himself gave some to be emissaries, some as prophets, some as proclaimers of the Good News, and some as shepherds and teachers—  to equip the kedoshim for the work of service, for building up the body of Messiah. This will continue until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of Ben-Elohim—to mature adulthood, to the measure of the stature of Messiah’s fullness.

Ephesians 4:11-13 TLV

🎈  Icebreaker Leader

  • Prepare an icebreaker ~10-15 minutes (icebreaker ideas)
  • Examples of icebreaker include: a fun question to get to know each other more (What was your favorite childhood memory? etc.), a short game, paper telephone, etc.
  • Please keep the icebreaker God-glorifying.
  • If preparation is needed beforehand, let the group know ahead of time (best at the end of the meeting the week before, or through the discord group chat)

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

Philippians 4:4 NKJV

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Ephesians 5:4 NKJV

🙏  Prayer Leader

  • Choose the weekly memory verse and sends it into the discord #announcements by Monday (or the day the role has been assigned) and adds to the Bible verses doc.
  • Open the meeting on Shabbat in prayer
  • Divide people into small groups of 3-4 people to pray for ~15 minutes, being aware of group dynamics (make sure each group has a person who can lead responsibly). Small groups will share praise reports and prayer requests, then pray together.

Pray in the Ruach on every occasion, with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, keep alert with perseverance and supplication for all the kedoshim.

Ephesians 6:18 TLV

💬  Discussion Leader

  • Study Scripture passage and prepare discussion questions (examples and tips)
  • Send discussion questions to the discord group chat #weekly-discussion-questions latest by Wednesday (but the earlier the better).
  • New discussion leaders: please send the questions to Catherine first (by Tuesday) before sending it into the discord group.
  • Include both surface level and deeper questions and an application question at the end (to apply what we learned into our daily lives)
  • Guide the discussion on Shabbat, help people stay on topic, encourage everyone
  • For a group larger than 10-12 people, split into 2 groups and appoint a discussion leader for the other group

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:17 NKJV

How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Psalm 119:103-105 NKJV

✏  Secretary

  • Write or type a record of what happened during each meeting (example):
  • Names of all attendees
  • Summary of main events & what was said (icebreaker, prayer, discussion)
  • Sends notes into the discord channel #secretary-notes by the next Monday

I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

Psalm 77:11 NKJV

Additional: 🎵  Worship

  • Sing or play an instrument during worship at the beginning of our meeting
  • Not a regularly rotated role; please contact Jordan Quinones if interested

Instead, be filled with the Ruach, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your heart to the Lord— always giving thanks for everything to God the Father, in the name of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

Ephesians 5:18b-20 TLV
